Can JLex Review be used as a dedicated commenting tool?

Joe Campbell
I am looking for a tool that offers full commenting functionality, such as:
- threaded conversations
- Akismet support
- K2 comment count integration
- comment RSS
- comment functionality: subscribe, permalink, share, feature, report

If possible, please provide a sample URL(s)

Thank You

Hello Joe,
Thanks for your interesting !

I please answer your questions:
- threaded conversations > Yes
- Akismet support > I don't try, but if it has plugin for Joomla, I think easy to integrate JLex Review.
- K2 comment count integration > Yes.
- comment RSS > No :-(
- comment functionality: subscribe, permalink, share, feature, report > Yes. ;)
Please provide URL of demo or website utilizing threaded comment feature (comments not reviews) - Thank You

URL of demo: http://demo.jlexart.com/jlex-review/comment
p/s: You can change text (from review to comment) in language pack :)
1) The text reflects the experience - you should change to "comments"
2) Where is the "Reply" feature for threaded conversations?
3) Can Sort by & Find features be used for comments (please add)
4) Can you subscribe to the entire conversation or thread?
5) Can the Review description formatting be removed? (bold, media, current time, etc.)

1. Yep i will change, but I can only do it in next version :)
2. It line "Become a first comment..."
3,4,5 => You can set it in JLex Review config.
I just tested #2 - it only provides one level of threading and it must be in response to a review. This is not how commenting tools work. Comments should be about the content or other/previous comments.

As a review tool, this is great, but not ideal as a comment tool. I recommend you create a plugin or separate extension to better serve the needs of those who want a true commenting tool.

I hope you find my suggestions helpful.

Thanks for your opinion ! I will try to improve comment section in next version (or make a new extension) ;)
Awesome - please email me directly if I can help in any way :)

I am also wanting more of a Commenting function than a Review and am trying to alter the component to suit this purpose, but would love it if you made these options available!

Actually the way these forums work seems to be what we are looking for... Do you have an extension that handles your forum feature?
